The Technicians Gallery at the Science Museum host regular workshops with technicians from partner organisations so you can experience what it’s like to do their job through hands-on activities and Q&A sessions. It’s completely free and your teacher can book a workshop as part of a school trip. Alternatively, visit the museum with friends and family during half term to enjoy free, careers-themed activities at Careers Live.

Step into the role of a technician

You can also experience first-hand the roles of Alice, Toluwani, Leteesha and many more at the Science Museum. Experience what it’s like to create visual effects on a blockbuster film set, analyse blood samples in a medical laboratory, operate a robot in a manufacturer’s workshop, fix a fault atop a wind turbine and much more.

Explore career pathways

At 16, you could choose to do A-levels, T-levels, an apprenticeship or you could take up part-time learning whilst working or volunteering. Many employers offer training programmes such as T-levels and apprenticeships which will enable you to learn while you earn, and gain valuable experience in an industry you enjoy.
