This focussed qualification provides the highest level of training, with particular emphasis given in establishing professional behaviour, building communication skills, and ensuring the highest level of customer service is delivered.
The apprenticeship will boost your confidence in the workplace resulting in an enhanced work performance and exceptional client experience.
The bespoke apprenticeship will be designed around specific training needs.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS DO I NEED BEFORE I START?
The Level 2 Hair Professional Diploma is the forefront of becoming a hairdresser.
No prior hairdressing qualifications are needed to allow you to take part in the apprenticeship.
GCSEs in Maths and English (grade C/4 or above) would be advantageous. However, this is not essential as Functional Skills can be achieved alongside your Apprenticeship.
It is essential that you have the ability to take an active part in studying, along with a willingness to learn new hairdressing techniques and methods within your hairdressing qualification and have good employability skills such as reliability, communication and teamwork.
WHAT WILL I LEARN DURING MY HAIR PROFESSIONAL APPRENTICESHIP?
During your apprenticeship you will learn how to:
- Consult with clients and provide appropriate care
- Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
- Cut hair using an increased range of techniques
- Style and finish hair
- Colour and lighten hair
- Perm and straighten hair
- Demonstrate professionalism to a high standard in all activities
- Behave and communicate in a way that responds to client’s expectations and employer needs
- Follow and maintain safe working practices
Training will also provide bespoke enrichment activities along with preparing you for the end point assessment to ensure you gain the ultimate success.
HOW LONG DOES THE APPRENTICESHIP TAKE?
The qualification is typically a 24-month programme, depending on your individual needs, with the opportunity to fast track.
HOW WILL MY APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING BE DELIVERED?
The TONI&GUY apprenticeship is delivered through blended learning, which includes:
- Face to face practical delivery in your relevant delivery location
- Remote learning within virtual classrooms
- Self-learning completing the relevant courses on the Learning Hub
The qualification will take place in either of the following dependant on your salon and where you are in the country:
- Flagship Academy – London
- One of the regional Hubs – York, Manchester, Birmingham, Taunton
- Your individual salon
You also carry out additional training with your employer learning within the workplace.
WHAT WILL MY WORKING HOURS BE?
You will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours a week and a maximum of 40.
This includes both training delivery and working on the salon floor.
Your hours will be agreed with your employer and detailed in your apprenticeship contract of employment.
WHAT WILL I EARN ON THE APPRENTICESHIP?
As an employed apprentice your employer will provide you with at least the national minimum hourly wage for apprentices, for a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Age 16- 18 – You will be paid the apprenticeship wage as a minimum.
Age 19+ – For the first year your will be paid apprenticeship wage as a minimum then after that you will be paid national minimum wage for the rest of the apprenticeship.

WHAT CAN I DO ONCE I FINISH THE APPRENTICESHIP?
Upon finishing your Level 2 apprenticeship you are most likely to be offered a position within your salon to progress onto the next stage within the company.
If this is the case, you will prepare to pre-varder and then varder in the chosen discipline in one of our Academies.
This will then lead to you working in a TONI&GUY salon earing uncapped commission.
